If you live Embrun, Ontario you already know what iron can leave behind on sinks, tubs, toilets, clothing and linens. It can also, in some cases, form scale and clog plumbing in water using appliances while making water turn brownish as well as smell and taste terrible.
Iron or rusty water is usually created when ground water passes through iron-bearing rocks. It’s important to know, however, that there is more than one type of iron predicament. In fact iron comes in various forms, which means that the typically recommended “one size fits all” systems, offered by many water treatment companies, may or may not correct your specific water issue. Generally, a water-softening device will only remove the “ferrous” or Fe2 type of iron. The reality is, once the iron has become bonded with any organics in the water, this type of device will have virtually no effect.
Nelson Water offers a tailored solution, which will typically include a chemical injection system, followed by a retention tank, a turbidity filter and lastly a carbon filter to eliminate any iron and or sulfur bacteria content from your rural well water supply. This coplement of tools will result in odour and bacteria free water that actually tastes good with no chlorine residual or aftertaste. The only way to implement the correct solution is through the testing of the actual water, which must be done at the site, because once the water becomes exposed to air, it will change form. pH is one of the most critical elements in controlling the efficacy of the equipment used for iron reduction.
Turning water yellowish and leaving stains in tubs, sinks and toilets can be problematic. But the worst part of tannins is that they can bind up organically with iron making the removal process even more complicated. Nelson Water offers a customized solution, which typically includes a chemical injection system using a coagulant that brings together the dissolved organic matter into clumps that can be filtered out, followed by a retention tank, a turbidity filter and finally a carbon filter to eliminate any leftover taste from your well water supply. When the tannin is not bound up with iron, Nelson Water uses an ion exchange system similar to a softener. In this case, exchanging the tannin ions for sodium, rather than calcium or magnesium ions.
That rotten egg odour in your water is due to hydrogen sulfide gas. This is common in many of the rural wells throughout the Embrun area. When hydrogen sulfide is dissolved in H20, it causes that unpleasant rotten egg odour and cloudiness. Hydrogen sulfide gas dissolved in your water can damage your plumbing, as it causes excess wear and tear on washers, valves and seats and often cause severe corrosion to the actual copper pipes and brass fittings. Nelson Water uses numerous proprietary protocols to ensure that hydrogen sulfide gas is eliminated from well water supplies. Using the ETF AIV-10 air-aspirated iron and sulfur filter, designed to remove manganese (which leaves terrible black stains everywhere) the ETF AIV-10 has the ability of oxidizing the sulfur, iron and manganese into a precipitate which is filtered out by the media bed in the unit. In severe cases of iron, hydrogen sulfide or manganese, Nelson Water Nelson Water offers a customized solution, which will generally include a chemical injection system using chlorine or hydrogen peroxide followed by a retention tank, a turbidity filter and lastly a carbon filter to eliminate any remaining any taste or odour from your rural well water supply.
In some areas of Embrun, Ontario, particularly the areas of the former Champlain Sea, Nelson Water has a successful history of eliminating sodium from well water supplies. The former Champlain Sea was a temporary inlet of the Atlantic Ocean created by the receding glaciers during the end of the most recent ice age. The Sea once included lands in what are now the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. These areas, as former salt water basins, are rich in sodium chloride which in turn, like sea water is very corrosive on copper, brass and other metallic plumbing fixtures and water using appliances. By deploying a light commercial WHRO (Whole House Reverse Osmosis System) Nelson Water is able to deliver high quality, great tasting sodium free water.
Final barrier protection of private well water is the responsibility of the homeowner, as such, Nelson Water offers innovative treatment systems to address critical water issues found in rural well water, like lead contamination, toxic chemicals (from manufacturing and agricultural runoff) as well as naturally occurring uranium /radon.
Nelson Water has a multi-decade track record of successfully removing these dangerous contaminants from of Embrun, Ontario well water. Although the tool of choice, is typically a three-stage reverse osmosis system, (the EcoWater ERO 375) there are also specific types of nutshell carbon (like coconut shell) that can also be effective. Nelson Water offers unsurpassed technical capabilities, particularly in managing the removal of toxic chemicals and the abatement of any meaningful levels of uranium /radon which are common in the rural areas of Embrun, Ontario.
